Who we are
My Water Minder is a hydration tracking app for iOS and Android developed by Marwan Aljasmi (the "developer", "we"). For privacy questions, contact: contact@aljasmi.info
Data we collect
The app has no sign-up, no user accounts, no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no crash-reporting services. We have no servers and no database of users. We cannot see your name, your intake logs, or anything else you do in the app.
Data stored on your device
Everything the app needs lives in a local database on your phone:
- Your display name (optional, only used to greet you)
- Your daily goal settings (activity level, climate, custom goal)
- Your drink and food logs, streaks, and achievements
- Your preferences (language, units, theme, reminder schedule, quiet hours, Ramadan settings)
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use one of the optional features below or export it yourself.
Optional features
Each of the following is off by default, asks for your permission before doing anything, and can be turned off at any time in Settings.
Apple Health / Health Connect
off by defaultApple · GoogleSync your hydration; read your weight once to suggest a goal.
Details
If you choose to connect:
- The app writes your water intake and caffeine intake to Apple Health or Health Connect.
- The app reads your body weight once, at the moment you connect, to suggest a daily goal.
- The app reads nothing else, ever. Health data is managed by Apple or Google under their own privacy protections, and we never receive a copy of it.
Disconnecting stops all reads and writes immediately. Data already written remains in Apple Health / Health Connect under your control and can be deleted there.
Weather goal adjustment
off by defaultOpen-MeteoFetch the local temperature once a day to fine-tune your goal.
Details
If you enable weather adjustment:
- The app requests your approximate (coarse) location once per day.
- It sends those approximate coordinates to the Open-Meteo weather service (open-meteo.com) to fetch the local temperature. As with any internet request, your IP address and the coordinates sent are visible to Open-Meteo while processing the request. No name, identifier, or health data is included; the app uses no API keys or accounts.
- Coordinates are used only for that request and are never stored, on the device or anywhere else.
If you never enable this feature, the app makes no internet connections at all.
iCloud backup
off by defaultiCloud · iOSKeep a private backup of your local database in your own iCloud.
Details
If you back up to iCloud, a copy of your local database is placed in your own private iCloud Drive container. It is stored under your Apple ID, protected by Apple's iCloud encryption, and is accessible only to you. We cannot see, access, or restore it. Deleting the app's iCloud data from your iCloud Drive removes the backup permanently.
Notifications
off by defaultReminders to drink, scheduled on your device.
Details
All reminders are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push-notification server and no device token is ever created or sent anywhere.
Home screen widgets
off by defaultSee your daily progress on your home screen.
Details
Widgets read your daily progress from secure shared storage on your device. Nothing is transmitted.
Data export
You can export your complete log history as a CSV file at any time from Settings. Where that file goes (email, AirDrop, cloud storage) is entirely your choice through your device's share sheet.
Data deletion
- Delete everything in-app: Settings → Data → Reset removes all logs, achievements, and settings.
- Uninstalling the app removes the local database from your device.
- iCloud backup (if you created one) can be deleted from your iCloud Drive.
- Health data you wrote can be deleted in the Apple Health or Health Connect app.
Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on any server.
Third parties
The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking code. The only third-party service the app can contact is Open-Meteo, and only if you enable weather adjustment, as described above. Apple (Health, iCloud, notifications) and Google (Health Connect) act as platform providers under their own privacy policies.
Children
My Water Minder is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages precisely because it collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA grant rights over personal data that organizations hold about you. We hold none. All of your data is in your own hands, on your own device and, if you choose, in your own iCloud. The deletion and export tools described above let you exercise full control directly.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised before that version is released. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
